What is a Chipper Shredder?
If you have large amounts of green waste to reduce then you will need a chipper shredder, with a separate chipping and shredding chutes. The side chipping chute is used to feed branches into a chipping blade whilst the top shredding chute directs your green waste into 27 rotating knives that pulverise the green waste into smaller parts.
The two chutes of the BIO 80 make it an extremely useful machine, particularly as we often find that most garden waste tends to be more green material rather than just branches which is more suited to the shredding side of chipper shredder. You can also throw rotting vegetables and other waste through the shredding knives and if the material is contaminated with small stones they will not damage the machine, unlike a chipping blade that will not appreciate having to chip stones or gravel.
Another key feature of the BIO 80 is that it is fitted with a powerful Honda GX270 engine so it will have ample power to cope with all your garden waste.
Is the BIO 80 easy to use?
Once you have started the Honda engine and taken the engine revs up to their working speed it is simply a case of feeding your different green waste into the correct chutes. The power of the engine and the chipping/shredding knives will do all the hard work.
The chipping chute will chip branches up to 2" thick producing small chips while the independent shredder feed converts hedge cuttings, green waste etc into mulch quickly, effectively and without blocking.
An additional feature of the BIO 80 is an adjustable discharge grille to help grade the material as it comes out. This is controlled via a lever on the side of the BIO 80 and can be positioned out of the way should you be shredding particularly wet material.
The BIO 80 can also be made narrower during transportation by pivoting the chipping chute and locking it into a more vertical position.
