What should the tyre pressure on my power unit be?

The tyre pressure should be 1 bar, or 14 psi.

How often should I have my PowerSafe® power unit serviced?

Every Week
  • With the machine on a level surface, check the gearbox oil level, top up as necessary using the correct oil. The gearbox oil level should reach between the two notches on the dipstick.
After the First 2 Weeks or 30 Hours of Work
  • Replace the gearbox oil filter ONLY, part number 58056249.
  • Check the gearbox oil level using the dipstick, run the machine for 2-3 minutes and recheck gearbox oil level, top up as necessary using the correct oil.
  • Change the gearbox oil by removing the gearbox drain plug.
  • Replace the gearbox oil filter, part number 58056249.
Every 100 Hours of Work or 12 Months
  • Clean the gearbox drain plug and refit.
  • Fill gearbox using the correct oil and quantity.
  • Check the gearbox oil level, run the machine for 2-3 minutes and recheck gearbox oil level.

How much oil should I put in the rotavator attachment gearbox?

The rotavator attachment should take approximately 400ml from empty.

However, after every 100 hours of use, or once a year (whichever is sooner), check that the oil level in the rotavator transmission is within 50mm (2”) of the hole.

To perform this operation, remove the bolts that attach the support rod to the rotavator transmission and the depth handle to the central knife.

Raise the rotavator hood, remove the plug and check the oil level, making sure the machine is level.

If necessary top up with SAE 80w/90 EP gear oil.

Reassemble the unit by performing the operations in reverse.

How should I lubricate the rotor?

We recommend using GT85 as a lubricant.

Spray it on your rotor assembly and the underside of your chassis after cleaning to help provide a level of protection against grass and mud.

Honda Petrol Engines

What type of oil should I put in my Honda petrol engine?

If available, we recommend you refer to the original Honda owner's manual for your particular engine.

Visit the Honda website for access to original manuals for all their engines.

However, as a guide SAE10w-30 engine oil is recommended for general use.

Always use 4-stroke motor oil that meets or exceeds the requirements for API service classification SJ or later (or equivalent).

Always check the API service label on the oil container to be sure it includes the letters SJ or later (or equivalent).

How much oil should I put in my Honda petrol engine?

If available, we recommend you refer to the original Honda owner's manual for your particular engine.

Visit the Honda website for access to original manuals for all their engines.

However, you can use the details below as a guide, if filling from empty.

Engine   Oil Capacity

GX200    0.6L
GX240    1.1L
GX270    1.1L

Do I need to add oil to the petrol for my Honda engine?

Unless otherwise stated, all Honda petrol engines on our BCS and CAMON machines are 4-stroke, so there is no need to mix the fuel with oil, this would only be done for 2-stroke engines.

Honda 4-stroke petrol engines run on standard unleaded petrol.

Where can I get a manual for my Honda engine?

For a copy of a Honda engine manual, visit the Honda website where you should be able to access a digital version of the manual for your particular engine.

How do I prepare my Honda engine for storage?

If the machine is not going to be used for a period of more than 4-5 weeks then the petrol may start to deteriorate.

Honda recommend adding a fuel stabiliser to fresh petrol which is likely to be unused or stored for more than one month.

For more information on storing fuel, and avoiding the problems associated with stale petrol, download this simple fact sheet from Honda.
