Flail Mowers

Flail mowers use free swinging blade or hammer attached to a rotor to pulverize any vegetation that they come across into tiny inconsequential pieces.

They are used to tame overgrown and wild areas that may contain rubble and rubbish that could be dangerous for other types of rotary blade mowers.

The fine mulch that a flail mower produces also means that there is usually very little to collect after a flail mower has cut an area, thus allowing the operator to keep moving and clearing areas faster.

Power is key to the success of a flail mower. It relies upon the engine keeping the flails spinning at a high rpm and not allowing vegetation to slow the blades down to a speed where it no longer can work.

We recommend using flails for cutting any vegetation up to knee height and in dry conditions where the material to be cut is more brittle relative to wet and damp vegetation.

Flails mowers are not the most environmentally friendly of machines as the destructive nature of the cutting system destroys all wildflower seeds and all animal life unfortunate enough to be in its way. If you are looking for a machine for wild flower management then we strongly recommend that you look at our power scythe range that is widely known for its strong conservation credentials.

Never operate a flail with anyone standing in front of the machine and we would always recommend wearing ear defenders, gloves and steel toe capped boots.
